Temple High School Theatre

The award-winning Temple High School Theatre Arts department produces outstanding entertainment events for Central Texans. The group has won two state champions in UIL One-Act Play, won two state champions in UIL Theatrical Design and a state championship in UIL Film. As of May 2019, the one-act play team has advanced from district for the past 27 years in a row. No other UIL team at Temple High School holds such a district record. 

Kayla Stewart is the Head Director of Thespian Troupe 1966. She has been at Temple High School with this department for 7 years. Ms. Stewart is also the UIL prose, poetry, and debate coach. She was named Fine Arts Teacher of the year in 2021. As a part of the community, she also does outside work at Temple Civic Theatre. In the Summer of 2022, she obtained her Masters Degree in Theatre Education from the University of Houston.
