Dr. Martha Everman Jones is an award-winning educator who has been leading genealogy classes and workshops for over 20 years. For 19 years she has written “Relatively Speaking”, a weekly genealogy column for The Victoria Advocate. She will lead three genealogy workshops during Texas History Days.

Workshop titles:

10:00 am:

“Help! I Am Researching Joneses!” Participants will learn how to research common surnames and keep from tripping into incorrect ancestral lines. Accurate and efficient record keeping and searching techniques and will be presented.

2:00 pm:

“Best Research Techniques for Overcoming Brick Walls” Nothing is a frustrating as genealogy “brick walls.” Learn how to not only confront them, but how to work around, over, or through them in your research. It can be done.

4:00 pm:

“Who, What, Where and How Do I Qualify for a Lineage Society?” Are you eligible for one or more of the better- known patriotic societies or fraternities? Learn how to obtain application papers and begin compiling documentation for acceptance and membership.

The fee is $10 per class. Each work shop is around 1.5 hours.
