Shakespeare on the Rock presents "Hamlet" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, and Saturday, June 1, at Salado’s Tablerock Amphitheater.. Tickets are - Adult $10.00, Child, 12 or under, $5.00. Ticket Gate, and Concessions open at 6:30 p.m.
Kelly Parker, Tablerock Board of Directors member, will direct Hamlet. Mr. Parker lives in Salado and is the McLennan County College (MCC) Director of Theater in Waco.The Hamlet cast and crew have been in rehearsal on campus for a semester will add final touches on the Tablerock Amphitheater stage during their annual week of Summer Camp at Tablerock.
Hamlet is also called “The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark.” The play begins with the recent death of the King of Denmark who’s son, Hamlet, journeys home for his father’s funeral.The plot deals with love, hate, indecision, revenge, retribution, deception, ambition, loyalty and fate.All of the ingredients used for plays, books, TV series, headlines and life in general from the time it was written in 1600 to today.Was Shakespeare ahead of his time or did he just understand human nature?
The concession stand will serve hotdogs, drinks, candy and an array of other calories for your indulgence.
History and English students may obtain signatures on their Hamlet programs if their teacher allows extra credit for attendance.
