Guest Speaker, Jim Hinton - CEO of Baylor Scott & White Health

Jim Hinton is chief executive officer Baylor Scott & White Health, the largest not-for-profit health system in Texas. The integrated delivery network includes 47,000 employees, 50 hospitals, 7,500 affiliated physicians, more than 1,000 access points, Scott and White Health Plan, Baylor Scott & White Research Institute and one of the nation’s largest accountable care organizations, Baylor Scott & White Quality Alliance.

As CEO, Hinton leads the system’s efforts to be the trusted leader, educator and innovator in value-based care delivery, customer experience and affordability. In addition to his CEO role, he serves on the Baylor Scott and White Holdings Board of Trustees and the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas Board of Directors.

Previously, Hinton served for 21 years as president and CEO of New Mexico’s largest healthcare provider, not-for-profit Presbyterian, Hinton led the development of its integrated system, which included eight hospitals, the Presbyterian Health Plan and Presbyterian Medical Group.

Hinton served as the 2014 chair for the Board of Trustees of the American Hospital Association (AHA), which represents nearly 5,000 hospitals, healthcare systems, networks and other providers of care through advocacy and public policy.

He formerly chaired the AHA’s Committee on Research and the Operations Committee. He also served on the board of Premiere healthcare alliance and chaired the board of the Healthcare Institute. 

Among the industry honors he has received, Hinton has been named one of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare magazine in 2013, 2014, 2017, and 2018. Hinton holds a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Arizona State University and bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of New Mexico.
