“The Bridal Showcase is literally a one-stop opportunity to plan a wedding,” said Lauren Ballard, the Telegram’s advertising director who organizes the event. “The vendors make this a special day. They go out of their way with displays and decorations. The Mayborn center is transformed into a wedding wonderland.”
Showcase vendors will be offering wedding gowns, decorating ideas, cake tastings, food samples, floral designs, wedding venues and the chance to talk with photographers, makeup artists and hair stylists. Most of the vendors will have door prizes for the brides-to-be.
The “Diamond Dig” is a popular, fun activity during the showcase. Brides-to-be register for a chance to “dig” through a large container of packing material in an effort to find a special gemstone and a win a quarter-carat diamond. “When the brides start digging, you better step back,” Ballard said. “It can get pretty wild.”
The highlight of the showcase will be the runway fashion show featuring bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses, mother’s dresses and formal wear.
In addition to door prizes from individual businesses, brides-to-be may enter to win a prize package by visiting each vendor booth and having their “passport” signed.
